Two 19-Year-Old Boys Drown in Dahisar Quarry; Decomposed Bodies of Two River Victims Recovered in Palghar

Two 19-year-old boys drowned in a quarry at Dahisar East in Mumbai, while bodies of two boys swept away in the Kamwari River were recovered in Palghar. Rescue teams continue operations as authorities investigate the incidents during the monsoon season.

Two 19-year-old boys died after drowning in a quarry in Mumbai’s Dahisar East area on Saturday morning, according to the Mumbai Fire Brigade.

The incident was reported to the Mumbai Fire Brigade Control Room at around 10:26 am. The incident took place at Shaikh Khadan in Ketki Pada, an area under the jurisdiction of the National Park.

According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the two boys had fallen into a quarry with an estimated depth of 10 to 15 feet. Fire brigade personnel immediately launched a rescue operation and retrieved both victims from the water. They were subsequently taken to BDBA Shatabdi Hospital for medical treatment.

However, Dr. Mantri, Assistant Medical Officer at BDBA Shatabdi Hospital, confirmed that both victims were declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, in another drowning-related incident, the highly decomposed bodies of two boys who were swept away in the swollen Kamwari River in Maharashtra’s Thane district last week were recovered after they washed ashore in neighbouring Palghar, police said on Saturday.

The victims were among three boys who were swept away by strong currents in the river in Bhiwandi on July 5 and 6. The incident had triggered an extensive search and rescue operation, which was affected due to continuous rainfall.

A police official said the bodies were found washed ashore on Friday after being carried nearly 80 kilometres by flood waters. The bodies were found in a highly decomposed condition.

The bodies have been sent to a government hospital in Palghar for post-mortem examination. Relatives of the two missing boys have been called for identification of the victims.

A search operation was carried out with assistance from the National Disaster Response Force, and efforts are continuing to trace the third boy who went missing in the river during the same period.

The two separate drowning incidents in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region highlight the dangers posed by overflowing water bodies and abandoned quarry sites during the monsoon season, with rescue agencies continuing efforts to trace missing victims and provide updates on the cases.
